Face Cream and Facial Lotion 101

Body Lotion

“Do not judge a book by its cover” is a popular cliché that warns people that what you see is not always what you get. However, in this day and age where a well educated mind, and an aggressive take no prisoner’s attitude is not enough, an individual is forced to go one step further and not just make sure he or she has the substance, but also has the looks to get him or her the edge.

This is why cosmetics have become a multimillion industry. Everyone wants to be pretty, everyone wants to be popular, and everyone wants to achieve that lighter, whiter complexion that is associated with the bourgeoisie, the ruling class, and the elite.

What better way to present oneself, than with a pretty face. But what is the foundation of a pretty face? It is different for each individual. While some prefer a white complexion, some prefer a bronzed skin tone, and still others prefer a darker skin. Black, brown or white is a matter of preference but what remains mostly constant is that the face should be clear, clean, even toned, properly moisturized and young looking.

In order to achieve this, an individual has to take care of his or her face. This means, one has to consume or apply a product that will produce the desired results. Some people prefer to take oral medication but a majority of individuals prefer to use creams and lotions.

What is better cream or lotion? The answer is neither. What is important is to determine your individual needs and preferences.  A cream is thicker and more syrupy in consistency, is warmer, stickier and greasier but will last longer as a moisturizer. While a lotion is lighter, thinner, less greasy and easier to absorb. Taking this into consideration, an individual might find himself the need for both a facial cream and facial lotion in varying parts of the body or in varying conditions.

A warmer climate and a dryer more flaky skin type may necessitate the need for a face cream while a cooler climate or a moderately moist skin type may require the application and use of a face lotion.Basically, it’s like the debate over apples and oranges, one is not better than the other, it is just different.

A consumer is presented with the choice of branded, not branded, and everything in between face lotion, face cream, facial lotion, facial cream. While as a general rule, the better known the product; the more positive product reviews it has garnered; the more money available to be spent for research and development; the better the ingredients and the more advanced the technology behind it, the better results. This is not always the case. Some lesser known product might be more effective or might be better suited for you. The key is to always research, research, and more research. One might also consider seeking professional help for best results.

When buying face lotion and face cream, one must also consider whether to go synthetic, natural or organic.

Synthetic face lotion and face cream are those with ingredients derived from chemicals that have been produced by human intervention or human technology. In most cases, these face lotion andface cream are more expensive because of the research and development that went with it. This also means that they are generally more potent than their natural counterparts. But, this is a double edged sword because more potent means more results but it might not necessarily mean better results. The advantages of a synthetic product is that they are specifically made to address certain problems for which these products are most suited and that generally synthetic products have a longer shelf life since chemical compounds and preservatives are already added as an ingredient.

Natural facial lotion and facial cream are those with ingredients derived from natural sources such as plant extracts like avocado extracts, Vitamin E, tea tree oil, seaweeds, honey, and many other natural ingredients. Natural products are milder to the skin and the body, spoil faster and are generally less potent than their synthetic counterparts but are also less risky and contain fewer preservatives.

Nowadays a consumer also has the option of going organic with his or her face lotion, face cream, facial lotion, facial cream. Organic not only means that the product is derived from natural ingredients, but more importantly it means that the ingredients are grown and handled in a way that very little or no chemicals or man made products are used. This means that not only the ingredients are natural but also the source of the ingredients. Therefore, the resulting product is “more natural” but this also means it is more expensive. This is because organic products are grown longer and require more care, which translates to more costs.

There are a lot of available face lotion, face cream, facial lotion, facial cream in the market today, some more expensive than others. But being more expensive or less expensive does not guarantee results. A consumer must make sure to properly research the product, look at the ingredients and be particularly wary of those that maybe harmful to the health or may contain ingredients that the consumer is allergic to. It is also not a bad idea to consult a physician before using a particular product.
